Pollyanna

An internal optimist in the face of adversity (reality).

From the title character of the 1960 Disney movie starring a young Hayley Mills.
I lost my job, my girlfriend and someone stole my car. What the fuck do you mean I should cheer up, Pollyanna?

Pollyanna

"Pollyanna, I love you."
"Bitch, who doesn't?"

Pollyanna

The one and only who believes the morning sun will always shine again, a pot of gold waits at every rainbow's end, in roses kissed with dew, in make believe, fairy tales, lucky charms, promises spoken as you cross your heart, in skies forever blue, in silver linings, there will come a day (possibly tomorrow), a dream can still come true, friends and laughter, the wonders love can do, songs and magic, miracles, second chances, and finally, in you!
You can call them "Pollyanna"
Say they're crazy as a loon.
They believe in second chances
And that's why the believe in you!!!

Pollyanna Speak

News, economists, and personalities in the media and politics downplay growing disasters or negative outcomes when being direct is an inconvenient truth.
I read an article on the economy that use a lot of pollyanna speak when it comes to how bad the recession is going to get.

Pollyanna syndrome

Minimizing activities or occurrence so that something seems better than they are- painting something in a better light than it exists in reality or deserves
“LaReina’s parents were divorced so she suffered from Pollyanna syndrome, she had no response when her husband requested a divorce, told the girls at sewing circle it’d be no biggie.”
