Marilena
Marilena is one of the best people you will ever meet. She is kind, caring, funny and smart, friendly and talkative, but is also slightly blunt and can be insensitive. But she is the best friend anyone could ever have and if you have a Marilena in your life you must consider yourself to be very lucky and hope that she never exits it. British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expertâs specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be âeggheadâ, âsquintâ, or âgeek.â
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or âbafflingâ to the common person.
