Often used in interjections as well.

Use of the interjection "Idir!" is followed by spitting the ground twice and violent shaking of the upper torso, followed by rubbing of the belly. This is a mark of disrespect in some cultures.

To be an idir is to be lower than dirt.

Traditionally, people who displayed a foot fetish (eg sucking on toes of infants or caressing the wrinkled feet of the elderly) are known as idirs.
