Hindswipe

1. Noun. An online dating phenomenon wherein post-match scrutiny of a dating profile reveals unfavourable characteristics that were overlooked in the initial 'swiping' phase, leading to feelings of embarrassment and regret.

When you match with someone on a dating app who, in hindsight, you wish you hadn't swiped.

Usually as a result of frantic swiping, then more detailed inspection of their profile reveals various red flags.

2. Verb. The act of swiping without due care and attention, especially when it leads to hindswipe.

"ooh I've got a match! ... Wait, eww, what the hell. This dude is gross. Total hindswipe"

"Sabrina was hindswiping for hours, it's not surprising she's getting so many dick pics and weirdos"
