Originally an ancient English name for a Spivey Jam. First mentioned as “Glynnjamin” in The Vercelli Book, one of the oldest of the four Old English Poetic Codices, dating back to around the 10th Century, it described a tart mustardy conserve, later seen as ‘Glenjamin’ in Middle English texts including The Ormulum.
