When a member of Generation X, the forgotten generation, explains something to younger generations that was a thing that happened during their lifetime, which boomers would not understand. Originated on the "WillHouz" podcast.

Gen-Xplain

To explain something in complete sentences with detail and thought (no slang).

Gen Z's failed attempt to be edgy and turn the term "mansplain" into a derogatory term against Gen-X.

They forgot one key point though… Gen X just doesn't care.

Gen Z: What do you mean I have to work on the weekend?
Gen X: Allow me to Gen-Xplain this to you one more time.

gensplain

Gensplaining is when someone of a very different generation from you thinks they know more than you about something you are an expert in, mainly due to the era you were born / grew up in, and condescendingly takes the time to 'explain' to you how it works (similar to mansplaining).

A 25 year old kid in a shop tried to gensplain to me all about vinyl records and how they related to the length of radio singles 'back in the 70s' the other day; she must have missed the fact I'm over 50 and actually lived through it, or else thought I was senile.

When a woman patronizingly explains the world, especially minority or women's issues, to a man assuming that because he is a man he is an ignorant caveman.

Woman gynsplaining: You know postpartum depression can be a very serious problem that goes unrecognized blah blah blah.

Man: I'm a psychiatrist with a specialty in perinatal mood disorders.

genxbrain

The accepted birth defect of dweebs and zundweebies evacuating a boomer canal of patchouli and tie dye between 1965 and 1980, opinions vary but this is the most accepted. genxbrain for all things about black and white tv, playing outdoors without mace until dark, and social media conducted through creatively folded notebook papers with various declarations and polls distributed in lockers. Best of all there was no public internet and telephones were home alone as they should be when we were out enjoying life.

I hated to watch Lawrence Welk with Grandma, because my genxbrain nearly exploded from only having PBS on her black and white TV.
