A person who appears to function normally in society — holds a job, pays bills, goes to brunch — but operates with a premium-grade level of madness just beneath the surface.
Not hospitalized, not diagnosed — just vibing through life with controlled chaos.

These individuals are often charming, productive, and even inspiring... until you witness them whispering to the kettle or laughing at a traffic light.

Coined by Onala Fatoba, Lagos, Nigeria — Circa 2025.
Inspired by daily survival in urban jungles where sanity is optional but punctuality is required.
The guy gave a TED Talk on emotional intelligence and then threatened to fight his best friend over jollof rice. Functional lunatic behavior.

He journals every morning, drinks chlorophyll water, meditates… but screams at okadas like they’re the cause of his childhood trauma. Wellness enthusiast? No. Functional lunatic
