Experiencing intimacy with a person of the same sex through someone else. Note that the person whom you are living bicariously through can be of either sex.

Vicariously vacationing 

when co-worker overshares about all their enjoyable, fun, adventurous escapades while on vacation, while you are stuck at work, dreaming of you, yourself one day leaving the office to go on vacation.
Todd: If you could get that email out by 9 a.m., that would be great. By the way, I’m on a boat right now watching killer whales! So exciting, right?!!

Nicole: Sure, Todd. Sounds great. Sure wish I could stop vicariously vacationing through you and go to Fiji!

vicariously traumatized

When you didn’t go through a trauma but someone close to you did, so you are traumatized because they trauma dumped on you.

This relates to trauma being a factor of shock or unexpected outcomes, when things are not seen coming, they take more tact to adapt to.

This may or may not relate to people being in narcissistic states after going through a traumatic event initially.
