Budak 

A budak is someone you consider more than an acquaintance, but less than a good friend.

You love seeing a budak at a party or a bar, but they are probably not the first person you would call to hang out with.

Whenever I throw a party at my place, I call all my budaks to fill the place up.

Mile Budak 

Chief propagandist of the Nazi puppet state, the fascist Independent State of Croatia. Responsible for laws that sought to exterminate Serbs, Jews and Roma. In a speech in Gospić in 22 July 1941, he declared: “The movement of the Ustashi is based on faith. For the minorities we have three million bullets. We shall kill one part of the serbs, expel the second part and convert to Catholicism the third part of them”.

He was a mediocre author at best, still enjoying high praise among the Croat fascist population in Croatia and abroad. He was captured by the British military, handed over to the Yugoslav Partisans on 18 May 1945. He was court-martialled in Zagreb on 6 June and was sentenced to death by hanging the same day. He was executed the following day. During the trial, Budak claimed that he was not guilty of anything, which only proves his utter commitment to his genocidal fascist ideology. He got what he deserved, as all the Hitler’s men at the Nürnberg trials.

Mile Budak was a murderous, genocidal fascist.

Mile Budak 

A great Croatian writer and politician. Born in Sveti Rok, Lika in 1889, he studied geography and history at the University of Zagreb. During WWI, he was drafted into the Austro-Hungarian Army where he witnessed the Serb retreat through Albania in 1915-16. He was exiled from Croatia, but when he returned to Croatia, during a protest he was arrested and beaten. During WWII he became the minister of education, religion, and foreign affairs. He is most known for his plan of getting rid of serbs in Croatia. He proposed that One third are to be killed, one third expelled and remaining third converted into Catholicism. After the fall of Hitler, Tito's Partizans captured him and sentenced him in a one-day trial and was executed. The rest of Mile Budak's family were slaughtered in the Bleiburg massacre, while his wife and daughter were raped and executed by communist partizan forces.

Mile Budak is one of Croatia's biggest heros. It's sad that anyone else would think otherwise.
