Republic of China

China's official name. Most dumbass Americans don't even know it exists, which is made worse by the fact that they legitimised the Communist enslavement of 1.2 billion Mainlanders by betraying the Chinese Republic and recognising Communist rule over all of China (including Taiwan), and don't even fucking know it. But it's to be expected, since Americans are clueless about anywhere else.

Me: I think it's terrible that the US doesn't support the Republic of China in cross-straits tensions.

American: Taiwan is an independent country and not a province of China, blah, blah...

Me: Regardless of which government you support, Taiwan remains a province of China you wierdo.

American: WTF?

Republic

A Republic is an indirect form of government in which the people of a nation elect represenitives to make decisions. The first Republic was that of ancient Rome, up until Julius Cezar, than it became and empire.
The United States of America is the best living example of a Republic, although (as all goverments are) it is rather corrupt.

Ancient Rome was the best Republic ever.

The United States Of America is a Republican state, not a democracy.

A supporter or member of the United States political party that believes states and not national government should hold the majority of the political power.

As an independent, I am apalled at all the insults going in both directions. The only conclusion I can make is that Republicans blow and Democrats suck.
