Despite what many self-indulged non-cutters may say and beleive, it is not an act of "jumping on the bandwagon" and "fake troubles". Many times it is because they are abused or suffering from depression(the freaking President's daughter can get depression! Many times it has nothing to do with your lifestyle! GOSH!)

Get the cutting trophies mug.a person who inflicts injury on oneself. should be taken seriously. not everyone does it for attention, although many have considered it a "fad" and have associated it with emo music. although, there are everyday people who take part in it as a way to relieve stress, anger, the feeling of loss or any other sort of depression. some do it because of failure, low self esteem, problems at home and other serious occurances. cutting too deep can cause serious problems. teachers, parents, friends and many other people take it seriously and try to get you help. most grow out of it after coming into realization, or seeking other alternatives. cutting yourself can become an addiction and often gets out of control. remember, you have the scars to deal with for the rest of your life.
the best beggining alternative to cutting yourself, i found, is snapping a rubber band on my wrist or upper arm when i felt tense.
