Person 1: I'm really sorry, my mom just died and it's hitting me a lot harder than I expected... She and I kind of had a falling out when she remarried and allowed her new spouse to mistreat me and my sibling for so long, but now all I can think of is the fact that now we'll never have a chance to fix things. What if her dying thoughts were of her broken relationship with me? I had so many chances to reach out, and I almost did so many times, but it just never happened... Part of me wonders if it's my fault we hadn't spoken in maybe a few years when she died, and not more than a few brief, blunt, cold words in maybe twelve years.
