Travel PTSD

Like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but when returning from travelling.

Symptoms include:

Reverse Homesickness - missing people and places from abroad

Inability to focus on everyday tasks/dreams about travelling

Boredom, insecurity, uncertainty and frustration

Feelings of alienation or withdrawal

Need for excessive sleep

Since I returned from Habrough I have had really bad Travel PTSD.

Travel Arrogance

The sense of superiority one feels upon return from an overseas holiday. The bearer of travel arrogance will view their friends at home as boring compared to the people they met overseas, most likely in a hostel. They will then isolate themselves from often long established friends, under the mistaken view that their travels have had a profound change on their personality. TA can afflict people who have been away for a mere few weeks and is most prevalent among those in their early twenties.

Kate had so much fun getting drunk on the beach in Bali, she broke up with Tom as soon as she got home. He knew she had caught travel arrogance as soon as he saw her braided hair at the airport.

travel plug

The odd phenomenon whereby the bowels stop operating during travel causing massive "backlog" if you will.

Typically the phenomenon can be attributed to poor eating habits while away from home (fast food and the like), but there have been isolated reports of a pre-emptive plug happening the day before departure or the day of, thus debunking diet as the sole cause.

I drove to Gulf Shores with the family last week. Thanks to the travel plug, I didn't crap the entire time. When I got home - wow.......just wow.....
