They are not city slickers. It's odd to find this definition on urban dictionary, although it applies, as people from up north who move or visit the south or Midwest think these places are country, and they are in comparison, not that one is a better lifestyle than the other.

2) a genre of music based on the country lifestyle.

Like country clubs, there is a economic barrier to entry for most and once you're in, you realize the people are snobs, you should have saved your money, and you miss your poor friends.
