Orbital Networks

The interconnected web of satellites, space stations, and orbital infrastructure that form the backbone of off-world communication, navigation, observation, and logistics. Think of it as the internet, GPS, and air traffic control combined, but stretched across the sphere of space around Earth (and eventually other planets). These networks enable real-time global connectivity, constant Earth monitoring, and the coordination of all space traffic, forming the essential nervous system for a spacefaring civilization.
Orbital Networks Example: SpaceX's Starlink constellation is a nascent Orbital Network for broadband internet. A future advanced network might include navigation sats around Mars (MarGPS), fuel depots in Lagrange points, relay satellites for the Moon's far side, and a chain of monitoring stations tracking space debris—all talking to each other to keep the celestial economy running.

Dark Networks

Clandestine, encrypted, and often decentralized digital networks operating outside standard oversight, used for secure communication, black-market exchange, or subversive coordination. These are the "dark alleys" of the internet, hidden from search engines and law enforcement, requiring specific software (like Tor) or protocols to access. While sometimes associated with illicit activity, they are also vital tools for whistleblowers, dissidents, and privacy advocates in oppressive regimes. A dark network is defined by its intentional obscurity and resistance to censorship.
Dark Networks Example: A journalist communicating with a source via an encrypted, peer-to-peer messaging app that leaves no central server logs is using a Dark Network. The infamous "Silk Road" marketplace, operating on the Tor network, was a dark network for illicit goods, hidden from the standard web's view.

Adulting network

A Facebook group of chronically online admins and people masquerading as “adults”. Essentially the living, breathing embodiment of the “that one friend who’s too woke”, meme. You like Harry Potter? You’re banned. You’re in one of their “enemy” groups? You’re banned. You have a different favorite color from one of the admins? You’re banned. They claim to be all about inclusivity and tolerance even though one of their admins got outed as a r@cist and another one turned out to be a p3do 🤡
