AKA New Years Day (not to be confused with New Year's Eve)

It is called Hangover Day because..
well it's obvious

everyone has a hangover today because of excessive drinking at New Year's Eve parties.

Sober Person: Hey Lofonduh, wanna go to the mall today?

Lofonduh: Naww.. my head hurts too much.

Sober Person: But no one will come!

Lofonduh: That's because it's Hangover Day.

Election hangover

This is the feeling you get the day after the event when you have had so many political pundit messages slammed down your throat that you feel like you could pass a bill yourself if you just pushed the crap out as hard as these politicians do.

I have a raging election hangover today because I tried to avoid watching candidate commercials last night in between watching candidate commercials last night and now my headache has a migraine as a result of the results.

State Hangover

Occurs morning after you drink high volumes of alcohol followed by impromptu football activities without pads. Symptoms typically include those of a "normal" hang over (i.e. headache, nausea, vomiting) as well as scars, bruises, or overall soreness due to football related activities. Named as such due to the high number of football players attending state colleges who participate in the aforementioned mentioned activities.

Jack woke up with a state hangover because he drank gin bucket all day and hit the sleds all night. Coach Buxbomb would have been proud had he seen him hitting the sleds as hard as he did.
