1. an oversized SUV or pickup truck with a high hood, native to rich American suburbia. The driver's vision immediately in front of the car is restricted by the hood, endangering pedestrians that attempt to cross in front of the vehicle; the hood can sometimes be high enough that a collision with a pedestrian impacts the torso instead of the legs, increasing deadliness to the pedestrian by several times. Bonus points if the vehicle looks capable of, or is advertised for, heavy work, but has never been used for it. Supertype of momster truck; compare compensator.

2. A person who drives such a vehicle, particularly in a densely populated area such as a city. Subtype of asshole; compare BMW driver.

pedestrian scramble

A type of signalized intersection where pedestrians get the walk signal or pedestrian green light in all directions, while vehicular traffic gets a red light. Going on red is not permitted at these intersections, even RTOR and LTOR are not allowed.

The Shibuya Crossing is a well-known pedestrian scramble.

Pedesan

Commonly mistaken to be spelt "Pedesaan" (meaning "countryside"), the name of this Indonesian restaurant Pedesan akcually means "spiciness" when it's spelt the way it is.

I thought I was going to a place called 'Pedesaan,' but when I got to Pedesan, I was pleasantly surprised by the spicy flavors of their dishes!

ghost pedestrian

A pedestrian who seems to appear out of nowhere while one is driving. This pedestrian may not have been seen due to the driver texting, singing, or reading a book while driving.

Peter: *reading Harry Potter while driving down the street*

Pedestrian: AAAAAHHHH!

Peter: *swerves out of the way* Holy crap! Those ghost pedestrians are such hazards!
