Occurring at the site of a sidewalk or hallway, sidestanding is the act of obliviously standing in the middle of a high traffic sidewalk/hallway to talk to an acquaintance upon seeing them, thus putting oneself in the way of all pedestrians and forcing them to inconveniently walk through or around the conversation.

I had to walk on the muddy grass to get around those dumb girls sidestanding.
