pseudo-intellectualism

The practice of using sophisticated terms and/or concepts incorrectly or without thorough understanding of their intricate nuances and thus resulting in a flawed body of knowledge (i.e. erroneous beliefs). Typically people who partake in pseudo-intellectualism do so with authority and conviction as a result of some effort to understand the concepts and/or terms but lack the mental capacity to synthesize true knowledge from their efforts and thus typically do not know they are intellectually mistaken.

Yeah, that dude Phillip and I got into a political discussion and he started talking about how Sanders wants to subsidize everything and how Trump economic policies will increase the value of the dollar. He clearly doesn't even know what the word "subsidize" means, that there is a fine example of some pseudo-intellectualism.

Can be pronounced like Sudoku if wordplay demands it. An attempt to overthrow the government that, due to both poor planning and execution, fails in an incredibly underwhelming fashion.

Due to the impromptu nature of its formation and execution, supporters of President Donald Trump attempted a pseudocoup in order to overthrow the confirmation of President-elect Joe Biden.

An act of self-harm that is in no way intended to kill the harmee; the sort of attempt to express dissatisfaction with one's life that mental health professionals sometimes refer to as a 'cry for help', for example, Fall Out Boy lead singer Pete Wentz's overdose of the anti-depressant Atavan.

Elton John once committed pseudocide by sticking his head in a gas oven after putting out the pilot light.

Pseudo Suicidal

Someone who wants the attention of one who has committed suicide, only without actually dying. These people often "attempt" suicide in very pathetic forms, such as lightly cutting themselves in places that would very rarely cause death, or taking a small amount of non-lethal pills.
