Chimp chant

The term used to describe the phenomenon where black Americans get stuck in a repetitive loop of a trivial phrase when placed in a situation that mildly stresses them. The chimp chant always precedes a sudden and otherwise unexpected act of extreme violence.

The sudden, primal urge to pick fuzz, hair, leaves, lint, or tiny bugs off someone, the same way a chimpanzee grooms its troop. It’s that instinctive “let me get that off you” feeling that hits out
