Put a sock in it

Currently means "Be Quit" or "Shut up".

Originally meant "Turn the Volume down."

In the days before Electricity there was no Volume Control on a record player (Gramophone) so the only way to reduce the volume down was to "Put a sock" (Or other item) in the speaker to muffle it.

Two kids are playing noisily, and their Dad shouts at them "Put a sock in it you two, I am on the Phone!"

Put a Donk On it!

The phrase coined by some dudes from Manchester somewhere, The Blackout Crew, who believe its "sick" to place a synth noise on a guitar backing track, varying the various styles of dance music (techno, electro, bassline etc..) which they "donk" throughout the chorus.

Putach

Putach is derived by applying ebonics to the spanish word "puta," meaning bitch or whore (see Puta). This would be equivalent to saying "Biotch" in English. Putach is often used in a comedically pseudo-insulting manner such that it allows one to both call someone a bitch and make them laugh about it at the same time.

1. Your girlfriend always pushes you around, grow some balls and quit being such a putach.

Hard punches, thrown with the goal of inflicting maximum pain and damage. Usually only thrown by pinches working in kitchens after they get pissed off at the wait staff, or by day laborers who are pissed at other day laborers who try stealing their business.

Also known as 'chingasos.'

Fidel: "Ey, why jou try esteal my yobs, cabron???"
