A limited slip differential. Normally cars have an open differential or "peg
leg" which allows the outside wheel to turn more when cornering. The downside of this is the
car loses traction easily due to all of the power being transferred to the wheel with the least grip, causing a one wheel spin.
A LSD limits the slip of the wheel using clutches which lock the
two wheels together when it reaches enough slippage.
This allows for increased traction and
speed in
drag races, increased control in drifting and increased handling in grip racing.

Is not a "locker" which locks the rear wheels together temporarily for drag racing only.
