Often, feminism is misunderstood as man hating, however it is actually just a movement that aims to help women receive the same treatment as men. Feminism is needed because women are systematically oppressed. This does NOT mean women are oppressed by men necessarily, but by society. Despite common belief, a man CAN be a feminist.
