When you manipulate somebody into thinking what their was saying was wrong/crazy/dumb often paired up with the person taking what you said off based. Usually paired up with sarcasm to annoy or just being a dickhead

My dad was gaslighting me when he asserted that my sister didn’t actually assault me all these years ago because “she would never do that” despite her even admitting having done it to him.

One who takes part in the manipulation of events and situations in order to make a target person believe that he or she is crazy. They may lie or deny needing to any part of responsibility.

Jack denies texting his ex’s father and says he is not wrong for telling his ex’s father that she has inappropriate photos of him. Jack denial and pure lack of responsibility and respect makes him a gaslighter among with other things.
