Refers to the clouded judgment of a man/woman in a slump, who, in their desire to break the slump, aim for something they're not going to get, when they really should just get themselves a slump buster.

Paul Rudd's character in '40 Year Old Virgin' was wearing slump goggles for most of the movie, especially in regards to his ex-girlfriend.

Joe: I think I really love Jen. Maybe she'll finally take me back.
