MTV Generation

A term used to describe a generation who grew up under a continuous influence of TV (mainly those who were teenagers in the 80s). These kids watched a lot of MTV in particular, hence the name. The term "MTV generation" has a negative connotation to it, because it originated in part as a result of a generational gap. The older generation's skepticism towards the Big Unknown--the TV, helped coin the term. Now, as television gradually gains cross-generational acceptance, the term "MTV generation" is becoming obsolete, since we no longer feel the need to put down those who like to watch TV. What's interesting is that the initial skepticism towards TV is still present in our minds in the form of Mini Guilt that accompanies us every time we watch TV. Indeed, noone wants to admit it, but we all like to watch a "little bit" of TV. And if anyone suggests that we like watching TV, we either vigorously object or automatically deny it.
The older generation's loyalty towards the Tried and the Old and their skepticism towards the New fueled a series of unjust accusations towards the TV "maniacs" (the MTV generation).

Generation I

The generation of I, as in, me. A generation of people who feel entitled to celebrity. A generation of people who post their pictures on social networking sites, who post their lives on Twitter, who live as though they are famous. As coined on The Lionel Show radio program. Generation I slacks off in school because they believe they will be famous.

Every ten years is a generation. Such as the people born from 1980-1989 are of the 80's generation.

power ranger generation

The real power ranger generations is people born from the mid 1980's, to the early 1990's. When the power rangers first came out (1993), the bulk of the audience was about 5-10 yrs old. That would make them born in 1983 and later. The person above is an idiot since in 1993, his "generation" would be 2yrs old or not even born. Power rangers existed before all the stupid lightspeed, galaxy and whatever else. Mighty Morphin my friend, is the real deal. It was this generation (or more, their parents) who bought the merchandise, bought the toys loved the show.. and basically made Power Rangers what it was.
When I was 8, the Mighty Morphin power rangers came out and was a great show. I haven't followed it since I was about 12, but people around my age group remember asking their parents to buy all the merchandise. The kids born in the 1980's-1990's made the Power Rangers. We are the power ranger generation.

Wrong Generation

A term often used as a sad excuse for people to show their insecurity about their tastes in music.

In reality, there is no such thing.

People who claim they were "born in the wrong generation" often have difficulty understanding the fact that music today is so much more than West and Bieber while forgetting that (lets face it) popular music (and society in general) from the 60s to the 80s wasn't perfect either.
Person 1: I was born in the wrong generation. The music was so fantastic compared to today's garbage.
Person 2: Sure about that? I wouldn't wanna live in a world where segregation was still a thing, a war was happening in Vietnam and the world was still trying to recover from WW2. And who says all music today is dull EDM? Make an effort to find a band or solo artist who writes music with passion and spirit. They are out there.

generation y

The population of those following Generation X, born roughly between 1978 and 1995, and for the longest time not carrying much cultural distinction from the already identity lacking generation proceeding it. As of more recently, things like 9/11, the war on terror and perhaps the explosion of the world wide web will come to be associated with this still developing generation.
Generation Y will likely be remembered as the cyber generation.
