A word that can be used to describe almost anyone. People are hipsters for liking obscure things, but they are also hipsters for liking mainstream things because that's "ironic". People are hipsters for latching onto a new trend, but they are also hipsters if they liked a thing "before it was cool." The word is mostly used by hipsters, because hipsters hate hipsters and are not aware that they are hipsters.

Make up your mind, am I a hipster if I drink microbrewery beer or if I drink PBR?

To make a product "hipster" is to remove a it from its origin, make up a story that you want people to believe about it (in regards to its source, the inspiration for the company), package it nicely and put it in a minimalist shop, and then charge people a lot of money for it so they think its special/new/different

Hipster

Someone who strives too be unique and different, and would usually avoid mainstream. Typical hipsters have a certain taste in music, food, etc. and they'd think that only smart people would appreciate it.
Opposite of normie

A: Wanna get some pizza?
B: No way, it's too mainstream!
A: You're such a hipster.
