This can cause a chain reaction in which by instinct, some users may start leaving the group chats to reverse the tidal wave of spam in their DMs, which only worsens the spam for the remaining users. It is considered one of the biggest middle fingers you could give over the platform, rivaled by the "Mr. Ping Challenge."
