Term used to describe the failure of a Web server due to overload as a result of being linked to from a popular website, such as Google. The archetypal example was when the University of Swinbourne's web server crashed after Google linked its logo to it in February 2004. Millions of people clicked on the link, flooding the university's servers and forcing them to shut down. The term carries the additional connotation that highly popular sites such as Google wield considerable political power in this manner.

The University of Swinbourne's fractal website went down for nearly a week when it was first googleblatted and then slashdotted two days later.

Googledotted

Like being Slashdotted only the traffic is from Google, usually when they've adapted their logo to celebrate a special day (like Van Gogh's birthday).

But should it be spelt with an initial capital or not?

Artist Vincent van Gogh was born in the Netherlands March 30, 1853, and today Google celebrates his birthday with a special logo. As usual, the top-ranked site for the search result the logo links to is completely googledotted.

Brain Blight. Diminished neural capacity. Specifically, the inability to cognate relative minutia or trivial information due to an over-reliance and/or dependence on Google.

Kristie: “Heaven... I'm in heaven. . .da, da, da. . .I can hardly speak. . . da, da, da. . .When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek. Hey, what’s the line in between?”

Mark “I dunno. Isn’t that that song by that really famous songwriter from the 40’s and 50’s?”

Kristie: “I guess.”

Mark: “What’s his name? I can see his face. . .urgh. . .What’s his name? What is his name! Urgh!
I should know this but I'm suffering from Googleatrophy."

10 minutes later: Google: 40's songwriters.

Mark: “Sheeeet. . .COLE PORTER!"

Someone who is watching TV and they are also using a computer at the same time and when they want to learn more about something that they heard on their television, they search the word/phrase on google.

Alexis: Chris, why are you being a googlejocker???
Chris: It's so I can learn more about what I'm seeing on the boobtube!
