Today (2022) beeing a "Kanacke/ Kanake" means living a lifestyle and having a certain mindest, that is predefined by cultural figures like german rappers or internet personalities, who are considered as "gangster"- like.
The lifestyle includes the way people talk, dress, style, their attitude against the state, woman, the workplace etc.
Often times their behaviour is considered as masculine, dominat, materialistic and rebellious.
By that definition it is possible be a "Kanacke/ Kanake", even though you are not turkish/arabic/afghani/north african etc.,
That can explain, why people, who are not originating from that countries, are often times also called "Kanacke", even though they are Germans, Croatians, Romanians etc.
