A period during which one stops drinking alcohol in an attempt to compensate for holiday-related overindulgence. May or may not last an entire month. Begins on the first wake-up after December.

Sober October

The act of going straight edge for an entire month to make oneself suffer an unimaginable sobriety.

Peter: Have you seen Joe?

John: No why?
Peter: He's been avoiding going to the bar and smoking some dank ass weed every time I hit him up. I think he hates me.
John: Oh no! He's just doing sober October. I think he's trying to transcend consciousness and see God, but he's looking good.
