Nerd

A Nerd is an intelligent individual who enjoys the science fiction or fantasy genre. There are many types of nerds, which includes but is not limited to:

The Gamer- Into video games, and knows a lot about them.
The Geek- More into the intelligent part, or could just prefer the title of Geek.
The Boardgame Nerd- Plays board games.
The Anime Nerd- likes anime.
The collector- collects cool sci-fi or fantasy stuff.
The Brony- likes my little pony.
The Furry- Into animal morphing stuff, not all furries are nerds.

The Theatre kid- Not always nerds but I thought I should include it.

A nerd could be more than one of any of these or none of these.

Things nerds like include:
Star Wars
Marvel
DC
Stranger Things
The Umbrella Academy
Harry Potter
Dark Horse Comics
Dungeons and Dragons
Comic-Con
The Tick (some old superhero comic thing)
etc

The definition of nerd tends to very.
Dustin: Did you just do all of that in your head?
Erica: I'm good with numbers.
Dustin: Holy shit. You're a nerd.
Erica: Come again?
Dustin: You... are... a... nerd.
Erica: Okay, you better take that back, nerd.
Dustin: Can't put the truth back in the box.
Erica: But it's not the truth.
Dustin: Let's examine the facts, shall we? Fact one: you're a math whiz, apparently.
Erica: That was a pretty straightforward equation.
Dustin: Fact number two: you're a political junkie.
Erica: Just because I don't agree with Communism as an ideology...
Dustin: Fact number three: you love My Little Pony.
Erica: And what does My Little Pony have to do with this?
Dustin: Ah, let's recall the ponies' latest adventure, shall we? The evil centaur team and Tirek turns Applejack into a dragon at Midnight Castle, and then Megan and the other ponies have to use Moochick's magic to defeat his rainbow of darkness, saving them from a lifetime of enslavement. All the pink in the world can't disguise the irrefutable fact that centaurs and castles and dragons and magic are all standard nerd tropes. Ergo, My Little Pony is nerdy. Ergo, you, Erica, are a nerd.
Erica: And how do you know so much about My Little Pony?
Dustin: Because I'm... a nerd.

Nerding

The act of playing video games for hours and hours. Probably while eating cheetohs and hot pockets.
*Me in the group text* Yo dudes, anyone nerding tonight? I picked up a bag of cheetohs and there's a fresh box of hot pockets in the freezer. Let's do this!

Nerd

A person who knows so much, they're just awesome. Often used as an insult. Should this happen to you, simply reply with "Thank you for acknowledging my superior intelligence!"

Also, a really tasty and colourful Wonka candy.
Nerds and geeks are often confused. Geeks are like wannabe nerds: They lack the knowledge and social skills of nerds.
Person 1: You're such a nerd!

Person 2: Thank you for acknowledging my superior intelligence!

Person 1: ...

nerd

A person having an unhealthy obsession with fiction or fantasy related media and entertainment.
A classic trademark of nerd behavior is an unthinking bias (or lack of objectivity) in regard to topics of their interest, I.E., "Star Wars is Harrison Ford's best film".

Nerd

A person who knows a lot about something you don't understand.
So, just because I think it's a little funny the performance increased exactly Phi times when I optimized my quantum entanglement simulation program by introducing SSE3 instructions, you call me a nerd? Gee, you are so BIOS, I mean biased.

Nerd

It's not necessarily a bad thing or a good thing; it's just a characteristic.

A nerd is unusually smart, esp. in math, science, and/or computers. He or she tends to know a lot about pop culture, yet, ironically, often doesn't have great social skills. Usually has a great sarcastic, witty sense of humor (deriving from the knowledge of pop culture). Well-rounded, but just can't express him/herself to non-nerdy people well.

Examples:
Seth Cohen on "The O.C." (the best example)
Shia LaBoeuf's character in "Transformers"
The "I'm a Mac" guy in "Live Free or Die Hard"

Geek, dork, and dweeb, on the other hand, tend to have negative connotations.

Guy 1: What's with the nerdy guys having these hot, nice girlfriends?
Guy 2: I think the women are tired of jerks and want someone who'll treat them nice and take care of them.
Guy 1: Yeah. So you want to get wasted and treat women like meaningless objects?
Guy 2: Yeah! Let's go!
