liberty cuffs

Embroidered, often ornate strips of cloth sewn into the cuffs of Navy dress blues uniforms and worn when on liberty with the cuffs buttoned backward to expose the embroidery. Often oriental in origin and theme--many of them display dragons.

If Shore Patrol catches you with your liberty cuffs visible, you can be put on report for being out of uniform. I have never met anyone put on report for this infraction.
