quiet kid

The kid that sits in the back of the class and usually keeps to themselves. Some people think they're weird or emo or gay, but to me they're pretty chill. Most of them don't talk because they are anxious and don't have very good social skills. Or they just dont like you. Sometimes they have friends, but they talk to them awkwardly or dont even want to be friends in the first place but they dont want to sound rude.

Person 1: "What group were you in when you were in high school?"
Person 2: "I was a quiet kid. I never really liked socializing and only talked when I needed to."

doorknob question

Those are the dreaded words that doctors hear as they place their hands on the doorknob to leave the treatment room at what they think is the end of the patient encounter. The patient then tells the real reason that they scheduled their visit. This phenomenon frequently is the culprit that disrupts the doctor's schedule for the rest of the day.

olive question

The question for compatibility. Asking if someone likes olives is seeing whether or not you are compatible with them. If the answers are opposite, then they are compatible.

The olive question works if:

Girl: I hate olives. Do you like olives?
Guy: Yes

beg the question

From the Latin, petitio principii: to assert the truth of an unproven premise in the conclusion of an argument. Sometimes the unproven issue follows in the form of an indirect question.

John: "Legalization should not happen, because no one in their right minds would allow that to be legal!"
If John were to say this, his argument would beg the question, namely whether legalization is justified.
