Quick to take offense. Other words used to define the phrase are sensitive and defensive. The phrase "thin-skinned" is derived from the idea that such people are easy to attack as their skin is too thin to offer protection from assault.

The media exercised great caution when editorializing the words of the thin-skinned president to avoid acts of retribution from the IRS.

A name used as a compliment toward a persons appearance. The person does not have to necessarily have to be skinny or royal, but just attractive.

A term used to describe something that is moving in a quick jumpy fashion. Often the skittish object/person is acting without purpose and lacks premeditation.

The calico cat was sleeping on the floor then became very skittish when she randomly ran around the house chasing her own tail.
