cyberculture

All of the complex characteristics that define an online culture, such as general online ettiquite and slang.
Those familiar with cyberculture can easily survive on a forum. They know the behavior patterns, what to say and how to say it, and what to do if they're flamed.

Cyberjank

The REAL Vaporwave of Eastern bloc countries during 90's and 2000's.

Grey panel building suburbs soaked in tropical summer sun juxtaposed with graffiti, kebab shops, MMORPGs, CS 1.6 plugins, eurojank games, Unregistered HyperCam2, OUTRAGEOUS early Internet lingo, techno/trance/hardstyle/chiptune/nightcore/newgrounds, AMVs and heaps of nostalgia under the aforementioned manifested by youtube comments from all over Eastern Europe that go unnoticed just because nobody made a word for what they're trying to express.

Made through combining words "cyberpunk" and "eurojank".
Gary MCF's remix of "Project Well" by Beattraax blasting full-volume from a post-communist flat is the most cyberjank thing I can think of.

cybergook

Asian dude of late 2020 playing cyberpunk 2077, often having masturbation in between sessions.
That cybergook used so much toilet paper last night.

cyberrhea

1- A condition which causes one to crap messily all over the internet

2. Any stupid, ignorant, nonsensical, incoherent, or otherwise functionally useless internet editorial, post, blog entry, email, personal ad, IM, and the like resulting from the aforementioned condition which offensively squanders and devalues bandwidth, moments of readers' lives they will never get back, and the collective IQ of all sentient life
1- Online journal sites are full of many nincompoops with severe and persistent cases of cyberrhea.

2- I tried really hard to wade through that cognitive Lilliputian's editorial post but it was such an odoriferous and asinine example of cyberrhea that I finally wrinkled my nose in disgust and gave up.

Cyberist

A person who is immersed in internet culture and involved in things having to do with the internet. A cyberist generally has a hipster style of dressing, but despises hipsters. Cyberists enjoy internet sensations such as homestuck, anime, web comics, pokemon, portal, and various other popular games similar to those. One does not talk about cyberist culture, as it is generally socially unacceptable to like the things cyberists like.
"Did you see that cyberist over there? She kept talking about anime and homestuck and other internet things"

Cyberpunk

A subgenre of science fiction that nerds can never agree on the exact meaning of. A good guide line though is the two words in that portmanteau: "cyber" and "punk." Does the movie/book/show/comic/whatever in question have a heavy emphasis on technology? (As opposed to aliens, space exploration, time travel, etc.) Then it's got the "cyber." Does it have a punk-like feel to it? (Dark, neon-filled setting, black leather and sunglasses, techno-punk soundtrack, devil-may-care attitudes, etc.) Then it's got the "punk."

Depending on which nerd you ask, examples of cyberpunk include: "The Matrix," "Blade Runner," "The Terminator," "Total Recall," "Snow Crash," "Neuromancer," "Burning Chrome," "Hammerjack," "Altered Carbon," "Shadowrun," "Repo: The Genetic Opera," "Inception," "Ultraviolet," "Aeon Flux," "Tron," and probably tons of other classic examples this writer is forgetting.

Cliches to look for, that may indicate a cyberpunk story:

- Hackers
- Virtual reality
- A dark (in any sense of the word) future
- Sunglasses
- Leather
- Pimpin' suits
- Razor Girls
- Techno music
- Neon
- Urban settings
- Evil corporate dudes
- Anything related to Japan
- Spunky teenage couriers on wheels (skateboards, bikes, roller blades, etc.)
- A wise and mysterious black dude
- Sarcasm
- Robots
- Gratuitous action/violence/boobies
- Hearing yourself say "Damn this is so cheesy, but I love it so much!"
- Giant, futuristic blimps
"What the hell do you mean 'The Matrix' isn't cyberpunk? It's got the virtual reality, the hackers, the leather, the shades, the deep philosophy, the dark future, the cynicism, the robots, and the techno soundtrack!"

"It was made in 1999. True cyberpunk must be from the '80s, like 'Blade Runner' and 'Neuromancer.'"

"Dude, that's like saying 'Harry Potter' can't be fantasy, because it wasn't written in the same decade as 'Lord of the Rings.'"

"...it's *post*-cyberpunk, is what it is."

"Dude....waaat?"

Cyberspace

"A consensual hallucination experienced daily by billions of legitimate operators, in every nation, by children being taught mathematical concepts. … A graphic representation of data abstracted from banks of every computer in the human system. Unthinkable complexity. Lines of light ranged in the nonspace(sic) of the mind, clusters and constellations of data. Like city lights, receding."
The word cyberspace was coined by William Gibson in the novelette Burning Chrome, but was more notably popularized by the above quote from page 69 of his latter publication, Neuromancer in 1984.
