The academic version of sexual banter in the workplace, or dressing up
sexual harassment as scientific discussion. Derived from a case in which a
sexually frustrated male lecturer "discussed" oral sex amongst fruitbats in a suggestive manner with a female colleague.
Often confused with
academic freedom or an attack on evolutionists.
(The initial paper on oral sex prolonging copulation in fruitbats, by Gareth Jones et al, won an IgNobel award in 2010).
