A Maine term for front yard or driveway.

Boy: Who drove into the dooryard?
Girl: Its my folks!
Boy: Oh no!
Girl: Quick! Put your clothes back on before they come in!!

birch hook

A hand-held tool used to hook and grab wood. Commonly used with the handling and throwing of firewood. Is shaped like a "J", with a sharp tip at one end and a handle at the other.

Another name for sea gulls.

Binky

A childish comfort. Another term for their "blankey". Something they feel very dear to them. Nothing will tear them apart. In my case a 3-foot long strip of yellow satin. One of two that I ripped off a blankey when I was five.

Johnny, its time to get rid of that aweful thing. You're too old for it now anyway.
