Mossad 

One of Israel's intelligence agencies, noted for its expertise in wet affairs. Literally translated as "institute." Never referred to as the Mossad, but rather simply called Mossad.

Mossad launched missions, dubbed Operation Wrath of God, to track down and kill those alleged to be responsible for the murder of 11 Israeli athletes by Palestinian gunmen at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.

IRA 

Irish Republican Army; a militant organization of Irish nationalists founded with the aim of striving for a united independent Ireland by means of guerrilla warfare.

The IRA wishes to drive the British forces out of Northern Ireland and achieve a united independent Ireland.

Sinn Fein

An Irish political and cultural society founded about 1905 to promote political and economic independence from England, unification of Ireland, and a renewal of Irish culture. It now constitutes the political branch of the Irish Republican Army.

Sinn Fein was founded by Arthur Griffith in 1905. Its current president is Gerry Adams.

DIA 

Defense Intelligence Agency; an intelligence agency of the United States in the Department of Defense.

The DIA is responsible for providing intelligence in support of military planning and operations and weapons acquisition. The DIA obtains and analyzes and uses information of strategic or tactical military value.

Cheka 

In the Soviet Union, the state secret-police organization (1917–22), succeeded by the GPU.

The Cheka was created on December 20, 1917, after a decree issued by Vladimir Lenin, and was subsequently led by aristocrat-turned-communist Felix Dzerzhinsky.
