yupplets
Yuppie spawnlings; that is, the children of social-climbing professionals (usually of the milquetoast liberal variety). In order to maintain their family's newly-attained socioeconomic status, the parents will often put high academic pressure on their children. Yupplets can be found in large numbers in upper-middle class McMansion suburbs and in AP classrooms all across the US.
In this day and age, yupplets are often radicalized quickly against the failures of capitalism upon entering the job market, realizing that the methods in which their parents achieved financial success 20-odd years ago that were pushed onto them their whole lives are no longer viable for most members of their generation. As members of the working class from a relatively privileged socioeconomic background compared to their peers, Yupplets are not to be confused with trust fund babies who are of a much higher SES and who do not need to work to survive.

I thought this honors program would be intellectually challenging, but it's just filled with a bunch of yupplets who are only in it to boost their college applications.
