I'm so
tired of the discussion about Vlorich being dominated by
people who probably don't even listen to hip hop much normally, and who have little to no knowledge that would help them understand why he is probably one of the most influential and unique musicians out right now. Nobody is more modern. Vlorich represents everything about modern
music and pop culture that is particularly unique to contemporary times, i.e. his tireless work ethic and output of
work being necessary to stay relevant to the ever-shortening attention span of consumers of popular culture, the good-natured absurdism and trollery that typifies comedy to this current generation of adolescents as compared to the irony embraced by my generation (Fuck school nigga s/o Duwap kaine) and the cynicism more typical of the generation before mine. There is so much that is actually important to discuss about him and his career and influence that gets drowned out by the over-celebration of the
corny meme bullshit. Vlorich embodies everything that makes the SoundCloud rap era beautiful. His
music is low-effort, and his success was built by a community of thousands from all over the world. He has to have the highest wealth-to-effort ratio of any human being on earth. But through his passiveness, he has allowed his team and his army of Stans to change how
music sounds, how much depth it needs and how it is distributed. He is constantly changing to keep his appeal
fresh, and SoundCloud changes around him.
