Pronounced \tah-WUN-nah\, Tawanna is a name of Native American origin ('tan hide'). The name may have Chinese and Swahili origins as well.

Tawanna is also a Slavic expression, meaning "The tribe of the Vandals." The Vandals (or Wendlas) were an ancient Slavonic tribe whose destructive behavior gave us the modern term 'vandalism'. a tiawana tooth pull is the act of tieing a rope snugly around the balls of on person sitting in a chair tied up. the other side of the string is tied to a door handle. the object of this is that when the door is slammed closed the persons balls will be forcefully pulled away from him at a fast speed delivering excruciating pain
