slang: state-sponsored sex work; the female equivalent of the draft
German women found out that their unemployment benefits could be cut in half, should they not take any of the available jobs. Several of those jobs were in a brothel. THAT was when the tail-end of the unemployment line became known as The Drapes.

Carpet Match the Drapes

Term used when someone is asking whether a person's pubic hair color matches the color of the hair on their head. This question is usually asked of a person with red hair.
Hey Charlie, I saw you went home with that cute redheaded chick from the bar last night. Did the carpet match the drapes?

Does the carpet match the drapes? 

A question used to indicate the belief that a woman's hair is dyed. "Carpet" being the pubic hair and "drapes" being the hair on her head.
"Check out that hot blonde over there. Do you think the carpet matches the drapes?"

city chicken 

A food native to Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania in which cubes of pork and/or veal are put on a short, wooden skewer, breaded, then baked and/or fried.

I've heard that city chicken originated during the Great Depression, when folks didn't have enough money to buy full cuts of meat, so they assembled meat scraps on a wooden skewer, creating a make-shift drumstick. Hence the name.
