A type of music based upon the button accordian and greatly influenced by the German bands of New Braunfels, Seguin, and Fredericksburg. Narciso Jimenez is recognized as its originator.

A descendent of original Spanish-speaking settlers/Hispanics or Native American people of Texas. It is derived from the word “Tejas”, the original Mexican term for “Texas”. These descendant’s lineage dates back prior to Texas becoming a U.S. state. They’ve also incorporated some Anglo culture into the original Hispanic/Native culture.

Eva Longoria comes from Tejano/a family from Texas. Her family lineage can be dated back nine generations. Eva grew up speaking only English like many other Tejanos.
