In motorsports, the act of showing up at a track with no intention of actually completing the scheduled distance, but rather running a couple of laps and then pulling it into the hauler and collecting a paycheck. While this is highly criticised, it is highly profitable as many times there is little pay difference amongst the lower finishing positions and it allows you to save on maintainance and overhead.
The Phil Parsons-owned MSRP Motorsports team in NASCAR has made a career out of being a start and park team to keep themselves in operation.
