To create an overly explicit, detailed (in violence and/or sex and/or related language) account of something that is not so important to the overall subject that it needs to be analyzed in great detail, such as close-ups of animals having sexual intercourse on nature shows or websites like ratemypoo. It may be used as a tool for propaganda, but most often is limited to an emphasis on the salacious content (sensationalism.)
