Words you can keep

non-deterministic polynomial time

The set of the most difficult problems in Mathematics, solvable in polynomial time only by a non-deterministic turing machine, but verifiable in polynomial time. In mathematics and computer science is shortened to np. Of course, the editors of UD would rather publish BULLSHIT or several thousand entries for George Bush than something having to do with math. Also, why won't they publish "S4R" is a perfectly acceptable definition.

Rule number 5 + Rule number 10 guys. Seriously. I'm an editor too.
Aaron: Did you know the editors of UD don't actually follow rules 5 and 10?
Mike: Yeah, they turned down my definition for "np", y'know, its short for "Non-deterministic Polynomial time".
James: Yeah, and then the go and publish shit like "S.C.L.I.D". Apparently technical terms for guns are fine, but not in Math.
Aaron: Yeah, seriousy uncouth.
Mike: HOLLA!

polynomialbooboo

What happens when you aren't sure what the word for polygamous or polygamy is and your head is filled with math instead.
Mate thought multiple wives was polynomial or something so we told him he had a case of polynomialbooboo.

polynomial

a mathematical term which has no use in real life,
unless u like finding out how much space something takes up.
which no one really does.
i like polynomials tho.they are easy to factor and stuff like dat.
"if a house is a rectangle 2x by 1.5x on a plot of land that was 23x by 21x, find out if they have enough land to plot a new garage, 17x by 11x."
"who is THEY?!"

polynomial

An expression such as
x^3 + 2x^2 - 6x - 2, is a cubic expression.
3x - 4 is linear
x^2 + 5x - 10 is quadratic

These types of expressions can be extended to include higher powers of x, such as
x^5 + 3x^3 - 2x^2 + 3
4x^6 + 2x^4 - x^3 + 5

Expressions of this type are called polynomials.
Note: Polynomials do not have negative or fractional powers. n is a non-negative integer.

The degree of a polynomial is given by the highest power of the variable
An expression of the form
ax^n + bx^(n-1) + ... + px^2 + qx + r
(where a, b, ..., p, q, r are constants is called a polynomial in x)

3x^5 + 3x^4 - 2x^2 -1 is a polynomial of degree 5.

A constant expression is a polynomial of degree 0
A linear expression is a polynomial of degree 1
a quadratic expression is a polynomial of degree 2
a cubic expression is a polynomial of degree 3
etc.

Popularity Polynomial

This is when something which portrays itself as "cutting edge" becomes mainstream, but soon becomes overexposed, behind the times, old hat, or just plain uncool.
Due to the popularity polynomial Pokemon is back in style.

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
Some grebo passed with Sabbath playing on his stereo.
The Poppies are at no. 17? God, a grebo band in the charts!
