Bangin' on Wax was a gangsta rap music project by both the Bloods and the Crips. At first it seemed impossible that the 2 rival gangs would collaborate on a music project but the impossible happened. The music project was organized by Los Angeles area G's redrum and Tweedy Bird Loc. Actual gang members from both sides auditioned on a tryout and the best ones were chosen for the project. The album was released in 1993 on Dangerous Records and was a success selling over 400,000 copies. There is also another album from the Bloods and the Crips on the Bangin on Wax project titled "The Saga Continues," which was released in 1994. After this album, however, the rappers who appeared on the albums began recording separate albums for Warlock Records, under the group names Nationwide Rip Ridaz (Crips) and Damu Ridaz (Bloods).Bangin On Wax Came to an end due to the fact that the WHITE MAN was jackin the bloods & crips for there money & the publicity they deserved.
"Keep it on Wax" was a phrase used by the band Alexisonfire. It was written to express their feelings towards their former drummer, Jesse Ingelevics(2001-2005).
1 - An expression of bad blood/beef through music or poetry. The intended response is that the issue will not spill over to people who have no knowledge in the subject. Or, moreover, keep the issue silent from unrelated parties.
2 - An old gang term thought to have a similar meaning. Instead of resorting to violence the parties involved, respectively, try to resolve the issue peacefully. Presumably also through a form of music or poetry.
When an R&B singer comes out with an overly done and cheesy I am in love with you song that is targeted at the female audience and Top 40 radio play. These singers make it sound like they only love one women when you know they are trying to hit anything that moves.
