overseas foreign worker. Term seems to be used mostly for citizens of the Philippines. Because of the very large number of OFW's from there, and the great poverty of many OFW's families, they are very frequently vulnerable to abuse by unscrupulous employers.

KBR retained a large number of OFW's on construction projects in Iraq, where they are known as TCN's (Third Country Nationals).
Latest figures indicate that OFW remittances to the Philippines have increased by 8.6 percent to $4.52 billion, providing urgently needed foreign currency to stabilize the peso.

OFW is a very commonly used phrase. It means the lovly sarcastic phrase 'Oh fucking well!'
My freind Kevin recently said it to me over the net and I was awfuly confused. so I looked it up on the wonderfull Urban and couldnt seem to find it.
So there you go.
