octogintamate

To reduce a group of people by 80%.
Inspired by 'decimate', from 'decimation' (Latin: decimatio; decem "ten"), a form of Roman military discipline in which every tenth man in a group was executed by members of his cohort in order to maintain discipline,

'octogintamate', from 'octogintamation' (Latin: octogintamatio; octoginta "eighty") means getting rid of 80% of a group of e.g. employees, though unlike decimation, octogintamation only involves the end of people's employment (or such) rather than anything grizzly, and it also includes those who leave of their own accord, whether due to seeking greener pastures or due to a "better to leave than to get fired" mindset.
Not too long after taking full control of Twitter, Elon Musk octogintamated the number of Twitter employees.
